Adding an event on to your calendar is very straight forward using The Events Calendar plugin.
In this video tutorial, “Add Event to Your Calendar Using The Events Calendar for WordPress Plug-in” I have outlined the procedure for adding a new event to your calendar. I think you will agree that it is a very simple procedure indeed.
Once you have logged on to your WordPress Dashboard, begin by clicking on the Events menu item. Then click on Add New, this of course will open the “Add New Event” screen. First up is adding a “Title” to your event, keep in mind that this “Event” will become a “Post” as well as a calendar event, so you will want to title it with some search engine friendly wording.
The next screen box is where you will add some information about the event, I like to use this space to sell the event, as it were. Make it so people are intrigued and want to come. After you have worked up some amazing marketing verbiage, scroll down and start adding the details. This is where you can add dates, times, venue information and the like. You can also put in a web address for the event if there is one. Make sure you click on the box to add a Google Map to make it easier for folks to find your event.
The last thing to do is make sure you add the event to one of your Event Categories, in the video tutorial I simply created the category “Calendar” as in this installation there is only one “Events Calendar.” This plug-in does allow for multiple calendars if you so choose.
That’s about it, click “Publish” and you are done!
Adding a new entry to your Connections plug-in is very simple using the Connections interface.
For those of us not familiar with Connections, it is a very useful plug-in for displaying a directory of contact listings. You can use it to display anything from a simple address book to a sophisticated business directory. It is fully customizable to fulfill most any situation that may arise.
So, after you have logged in you scroll down to the Connections tab on your websites dashboard. From there click on New Entry which will open the dialog box. Most everything is self-explanatory, however there are a few things you must not overlook. On the upper right, there is a set of three radio buttons for Individual, Organization, or Family. Selecting the correct one based on your situation will give you the appropriate items to input. For example, if you select Organization, then you will have Organization Name rather that Last Name, First Name. Very simple.
Also very importantly, is that you select Public in the next set of radio buttons so that your new entry will appear in your Connections directory. Next thing to consider carefully is what Category to place your new entry in, which will be important for searching and if you have multiple directories with different categories.
After you have finished filling out all of the corresponding information for your new entry, click Add Entry and you are done!
The video tutorial Add a New Entry to Connections Plug-in goes through the entire process step-by-step and I think you will see that this is an easy thing to do and that you will be very happy with your new directory.
